Scott’s Pantry was started in November 2021 when Diakonos Independent Ministries of Maryland received a substantial donation of items from the List household. The donation was made by his widow Lisa in tribute to Scott, her beloved husband, who unexpectedly passed away in April 2021. Scott was a man of many talents, and a “prepper.” Both Scott and Lisa had built a substantial stockpile of food and other survival items in the event of an emergency. These items were donated to our ministry to be distributed to those in need and to the homeless. Scott had always been very passionate about helping the homeless and those going through tough times in any way he could. In Scott’s memory, we chose an electric guitar as our logo for this project, for among Scott’s many talents he was also a musician. We never had the honor to meet Scott but named this pantry project in his honor at the request of his wife.

Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble.  Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.

Isaiah 58:10 (NLT)

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

Galatians 6:9-10 (NLT)

“Everyone faces tough times at some point.  We know, we’ve been there ourselves.”

Rev. Steve Hofmeister, Diakonos Independent Ministries of Maryland
